What is a Sales Opportunity?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Sales opportunities in Tribe are used to manage and track individual sales deals with your relationships. They provide a clear place to store all information, progress, and communication related to a potential sale. This approach helps keep long-term relationship data separate from short-term sales activity. By understanding how sales opportunities work, you can maintain a clear and complete view of every deal.

What does this feature do?

A sales opportunity represents one concrete chance to sell something to a relationship. It acts as the central place where all details related to that specific deal are stored.

Each sales opportunity contains information such as what you are selling, how the deal is progressing, and all related communication. While a relationship can have multiple sales opportunities over time, each opportunity always refers to one specific deal.

Sales opportunities are the heart of the sales module

Every potential sale in Tribe should be registered as a sales opportunity. This applies when you are working with:

  • New prospects

  • Hot prospects

  • Existing customers

where you want to sell something additional.

Using sales opportunities allows you to track multiple deals with the same relationship while keeping each deal clearly separated. This makes it easier to manage current opportunities and review past sales activity.

Why sales information is not stored on the relationship card

The relationship card in Tribe is designed to represent your long-term connection with a person or organisation. It is not intended to store temporary or repeatable sales information.

Sales-related details such as:

  • What you are selling

  • The expected value

  • The probability of closing

  • The current stage of the deal

These are therefore not stored on the relationship card. This information always belongs to the sales opportunity itself. This structure allows us to track multiple deals with the same relationship, keep a clear overview of current and past opportunities, and build a complete sales history per relationship.

Communication and follow-ups

All communication and follow-up related to a deal is linked directly to the sales opportunity. This includes tasks, appointments, emails, attachments, and notes.

By keeping everything in one place, each sales opportunity becomes a complete dossier containing everything related to that specific sale.

Quick Summary

Sales opportunities are used to manage individual sales deals in Tribe. They keep all deal-related information and communication separate from long-term relationship data. This structure helps you track multiple deals clearly and maintain a complete sales history per relationship.
