Tribe has updated the way workspaces are named and displayed across the platform to make navigation clearer and more consistent. Previously, the term "dashboard" was used to describe both a top-level navigation area and a specific view type, which created confusion for users and support teams alike. These changes resolve that ambiguity by introducing a single, consistent meaning for each term. This guide explains what has changed, how to create a new workspace, and what the updated workspace page looks like.

What Has Changed?
We have updated the workspace experience across Tribe to resolve a long-standing naming issue and make the product easier to navigate. Previously, the word "dashboard" referred to two different things: a top-level navigation area (such as Sales, or Contacts) and a specific view type within that area (alongside List and Pipeline views). This caused confusion when understanding what you were looking at and what actions were available to you.
The following change now applies:
Previous Name | New Name |
Dashboard (navigation area) | Workspace |
Beyond the renaming, a number of interface improvements have been made to the workspace page itself. These are covered in the sections below.
What Is a Workspace?
A workspace is a top-level area in Tribe's navigation where you and your team work with CRM data. Each workspace is organised around a specific purpose — such as managing sales activity, tracking contacts, or monitoring support — and can display your data in different views depending on what you need.
Note: The word "workspace" now has a single, consistent meaning in Tribe. It refers only to these top-level navigation areas. The views within a workspace (List, Pipeline, Dashboard) are referred to separately as view types.
How to Create a New Workspace?
The workspace creation flow has been redesigned with a new popover that lets you choose the type of workspace you want to create before setting it up. There are two workspace types to choose from: a General Workspace and an Entity Workspace. Understanding the difference will help you set up the right space for your team.

General Workspace
A general workspace is a flexible, multi-purpose space that is not linked to a specific entity type. It displays a widget-based Dashboard view where you can add and arrange widgets to suit your needs. Use this type when you want a space that brings together different kinds of data — such as tasks, appointments, and activity overviews — rather than focusing on a single CRM entity.
Entity Workspace
An entity workspace is linked to a specific entity type in Tribe, such as Contacts, Organisations, or Support. Because it is tied to an entity, it supports multiple view types — you can switch between List, Pipeline, and Dashboard view within the same space. Use this type when you want a dedicated workspace focused on managing records of a specific kind.
Did you know? A tooltip is displayed next to the workspace title when hovering over it, explaining what type of workspace it is and how it is configured. This makes it easy to understand a workspace's setup at a glance.
What Does the New Workspace Page Look Like?
The workspace page has been redesigned to make it clearer what type of space you are in and what actions are available to you. The key changes to the interface are:
Empty states are now shown in both Dashboard and List views when there is no content to display, making it clear that a view exists but has not yet been populated.
The Add Widget button is now permanently visible at the top of the Dashboard view, so you no longer need to search for it.
The View Switcher has been redesigned from icon-based buttons into a dropdown menu, making it easier to see and switch between available view types.
Action buttons have been moved into the three-dot menu to reduce visual clutter on the main workspace page.
add imageThe configuration gear icon remains in its original position and has been improved with a label and an expanded set of options.
Clicking the gear now opens a popover with two options. The first option, Manage Views (or Manage Pipelines/Phases, depending on the context) navigates to a dedicated, isolated configuration area.A back button has been added at the top of the page when inside the configuration area, allowing users to return to the previous view.
Quick Summary
The workspace update introduces clearer, more consistent naming across Tribe, replacing the ambiguous use of "dashboard" with distinct terms for navigation areas and view types. Two workspace types are now available — general and entity — each suited to different working needs. The redesigned workspace page includes a number of interface improvements that make it easier to find actions, switch views, and understand your current context at a glance.
