The + Activity popover is where you start a new activity on any record in Tribe. It now shows only the activity types that make sense for the record you are on, arranged into a General column and an Interactions column. If you are an administrator, you can curate what appears in this popover for each type of record, so your teams see a short, relevant list rather than every activity type in the platform. This guide explains how the popover is organised and how to manage the activity types it offers.

What Is the + Activity Popover?
The + Activity popover opens when you start a new activity from the timeline on any record, for example a contact, an organisation, or a sales opportunity. Instead of listing every activity type in Tribe, it now shows only the types that are relevant to the record you are on.
This keeps the list short and focused, so everyone creating activities on that record sees the same relevant set of options.
Note: The popover is used by everyone who creates activities. Managing which types appear, described later in this guide, is an administrator task.
Understanding the General and Interactions Columns
The popover arranges activity types into two columns.
The General Column
The General column lists the standard activity types you can create on the current record. It is filtered to show only the types that are valid for that type of record, so the options change depending on where you are in Tribe.
The Interactions Column
The Interactions column is a customisable list of the activity types that are marked as interactions. In Tribe, an interaction is a contact moment: a meaningful point of communication with a relation, for example a call, a meeting, an email, or a note. Recording interactions builds a shared history on the timeline, so anyone on your team can see what has happened with a relation at a glance.
Which activity types appear in this column is determined by which types are marked as interactions in your configuration, so the column stays focused on the interaction types your organisation actually uses.
Opening Manage Options
If you are an administrator, the + Activity popover shows a Manage options button that lets you change which activity types appear, and in what order, for each type of record. This button is visible only to administrators, so regular users will not see it and cannot change the list.
Open the + Activity popover on a record of the type you want to manage.
Select Manage options.
Review the current list of activity types for that record type.
Note: The list you edit applies to the type of record you are on, so managing it on a contact affects contacts, and managing it on an customer organisation affects all customer organisations.
Reordering Activity Types
You can change the order in which activity types appear, so the most-used types sit at the top.
Open Manage options for the record type you want to change.
Drag an activity type to a new position in the list.
Save your changes.
The order you set is the order everyone sees when they open the + Activity popover on that type of record.
Hiding and Showing Activity Types
You can hide an activity type so it no longer appears in the popover, without removing it from the list. This is useful when a type is not needed for now but you may want it back later.
Open Manage options for the record type you want to change.
Hide an activity type to remove it from the popover while keeping it in the list.
Show a hidden activity type to bring it back into the popover.
Save your changes.
Adding and Removing Activity Types
You can add activity types to the list or remove them entirely.
Open Manage options for the record type you want to change.
Use the search bar to add an activity type to the popover for the selected record type. In the search popover, activity types already included in the list are marked with a green checkmark.
Remove an activity type to take it out of the list.
Save your changes.
Did you know? Hiding and removing are different. Hiding keeps a type in the list so you can show it again quickly, while removing takes it out of the list altogether.
How Your Changes Apply
Changes you make in Manage options apply to every record of that type, not just the record you are on. For example, changes made while managing a contact apply to every contact, and changes made while managing an organisation apply to every organisation.
Because the changes are shared, everyone who creates an activity on that type of record sees the same list, in the same order.
For an overview of the redesigned timeline that the popover sits within, see the related guide on using the redesigned activity timeline.
Quick Summary
The + Activity popover shows only the activity types that are relevant to the record you are on, split into a General column and an Interactions column. Administrators can use Manage options to reorder, hide, show, add, and remove the activity types for each type of record. These changes apply to every record of that type, so everyone sees the same focused, relevant list.
